NASA Chief wants Tom Cruise to inspire kids to be the next Elon Musk with his Space film

Actor Tom Cruise is taking his love for action scenes one step higher! According to Deadline, the actor is reportedly planning to shoot in space with the help of Elon Musk’s Space X. There is no studio attached to it yet but he is working with NASA for the same and found his director in Edge of Tomorrow’s Doug Liman. While the plot is under wraps for the untitled project,  NASA Administrator James Bridenstine wants Tom Cruise to inspire kids to be the next Elon Musk with his Space film.

“People ask me about Tom Cruise all the time now,” Bridenstine said as he joined Elon Musk ahead of the SpaceX rocket launch. “The answer is yes, we would love for Tom Cruise to fly to the International Space Station and make a movie. I’m all for that. We’re going to do what we can to make that happen. There was a day when I was in elementary school and I saw ‘Top Gun.’ From that day, I knew I was going to be a Navy pilot. It’s just the way it was. The goal here [is similar,] and it’s what we’re doing today [with the rocket launch],” Indie Wire reported.

“Get the kids fired up about it!” Elon Musk added. “Get them to want that space suit and want to go into orbit and go to the moon and go to Mars. We’re reigniting the dream of space. Anyone who has within them the spirit of exploration should love what’s going on today.”

James Bridenstine concluded, “If we can get Tom Cruise to inspire an elementary kid to join the Navy and be a pilot, why can’t we get Tom Cruise to inspire the next Elon Musk? That’s what we need. We need a new generation of many Elon Musks. That’s what we’re doing with our launch [and the film]. It’s all about the next generation.”

Doug Liman is currently working on the first draft of the film. He will also produce alongside Cruise.

Meanwhile, Tom Cruise has three upcoming projects including Top Gun: Maverick and Mission Impossible 7 & 8. All three have been postponed amid coronavirus pandemic.
