Sushant Singh Rajput case: CBI officials unconvinced of two answers by Rhea Chakraborty

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently probing the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. On Friday, the CBI interrogated Rhea Chakraborty for nearly 10 hours. The actress who is also the prime accused was summoned on Saturday for a second round of questioning. 

Reportedly, the Central agency was not satisfied with the answers Chakraborty gave for a few questions and wanted more details on the last hours leading to Sushant’s death. The reports further state that Chakraborty was asked 50 questions and the CBI was not convinced with answers for two of the questions. They want to know if the couple broke up on June 8 and if yes, the reason for the same. The officials, reportedly, were not satisfied with the answers they got. 

Chakraborty revealed that Sushant checked up on her through her brother Showik after she left hisapartment on June 8. However, the officials want to know why she did not check up on him after leaving his house. 

The CBI questioned Rhea in the presence of her brother Showik Chakraborty.

On the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in the recently released film Sadak 2. The film directed by her Mahesh Bhatt is the sequel to the 1991 film Sadak that featured Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt in the lead. She will next be seen in the film Gangubai Kathiawadi, the release of which has been postponed due to the pandemic.

Lata Mangeshkar’s residential building sealed as a precautionary measure against COVID-19

The residential building in which veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar lives has been sealed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation(BMC) as a precautionary measure against COVID-19 pandemic. 

As per reports, the singer and her family are safe. The Mangeshkar family released an official statement which read, “We have been inundated by calls all evening enquiring whether Prabhakunj is sealed. The Building Society and the BMC have sealed it from the onset of the epidemic as we have senior citizens at home and in the building, and it is mandatory to take these precautions. Even our usual festive Ganesha celebrations were a simple familial one this time, to cooperate and support social distancing”. 

“Please do not react to any hearsay on the health of our family members, especially, We, as building society in unison, are taking utmost caution, care and co-operating to ensure the well-being and safety of all the senior citizens especially, and all the other residing members as well. By God’s grace and the wishes of so many, the family is safe,” the statement further read.

The 10-day Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most celebrated and loved festivals of India. Owing to the pandemic, citizens have been refrained from holding processions and have been advised to celebrate at home with their families this year.

On Saturday, Bollywood’s Kapoor family got together for the Ganapati celebrations. Kareena and Karisma Kapoor got together with their family members and shared pictures on their social media handles. Kareena shared two adorable pictures of Taimur who was seen goofing around with the other family members. Sharing the pictures, Bebo wrote, “All my favourite humans”. In one of the pictures, Taimur can be seen posing with Randhir Kapoor, Babita Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor’s children.

Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister calls for a boycott of the film Shashank inspired by the death of the actor

Late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti has demanded a boycott of the film titled Shashank. The film is inspired by the late actor’s death and co-produced by  Karni Sena member Surjeet Singh Rathore.

On Saturday, Shweta took to her Twitter handle and asked people to boycott the film. “Boycott the film and the one who is promoting it!! #BoycottAltairMedia,” she wrote while retweeting posters of the film. The film is produced under the banner of Roar productions. It is directed by Sanoj Mishra and stars Arya Babbar and Rajveer Singh. In the posters, there were words like depressions, suicide, murder and nepotism mentioned.

Meanwhile, Rathore, a Karni Sena member recently told a news channel that he was present at Cooper Hospital on June 15, where the autopsy on Sushant’s body was conducted. He also claimed that Rhea Chakraborty said “Sorry Babu” after seeing the actor’s mortal remains. 

Sushant’s family friend Nilotpal Mrinal reacting to the poster on Twitter wrote, “So this is reality of Surjeet Singh Rathore — His appearance on TV and news was a coverup for this project of his — shame on you #surjeetsinghrathore.”

Unlock 4.0: Cinema halls to remain closed in September

For the Indian film industry reeling under the impact of the Covid 19, the hope that movie theatres will be re-opened in September had been dashed to the ground. Phase 4 of the Unlock directive from the Ministry Of Home Affairs which offers many added reliefs in non-containment zones, clearly states that cinema halls shall continue to remain closed in September.

However the Directive also states that drive-in movie theatres would be permitted to open from 21^st September. Sadly the drive-in movie culture is almost non-existent in India. Hence this SOP has no or little relevance for the crisis-ridden movie-theatre business in India.

Says Shekhar Kapur, “Drive-in theatres could make a comeback as they are in the rest of the world. I don’t think theatres will fully open for another year. And if they are to follow rules of social distancing, the theatres will sell fewer tickets. So the days of multi-crore theatrical box office in one week or weekend are over. I’m afraid, the film industry, like other industries, is facing huge losses. We don’t know yet how many film workers, theatrical workers, were part of the unorganized labour sector, so even completing films maybe an issue. Except there are OTT platforms of course, but with completely lower price models.”
