Alia Bhatt’s date dilemma after lockdown
Whenever the Indian film industry is allowed to go back to work, the actors will find their dates in a scramble, and none more so than Alia Bhatt. She is the only major A-lister from Bollywood who has four films on the floors in various stages of production.
And all of them demand her immediate attention. Says a source, “She was supposed to shoot in March with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Gangubai Kathiawadi in Mumbai, and then join S S Rajamouli in Hyderabad for RRR in April. In the second-half of 2020 she was supposed to shoot for her father (Mahesh Bhatt)’s Sadak 3.”
Now with the lockdown throwing all schedules haywire, Alia has a lot of figuring out do. Should she complete Bhansali’s film first, and then go on to the delayed Rajamouli project? And what about her father’s project? Give it the least attention …ghar ki murgi daal baraabar?
And what happens to the monstrously delayed Karan Johar-Ayan Mukerjee sci-fi fantasy Brahmastra which was to release in December 2020. Given the crisis, the film’s last schedule and the release remain postponed indefinitely.

Priyamani says there is no point in doing dance numbers; hopes Bollywood sees her in a new way with upcoming projects
South Indian actress Priyamani recently grabbed eyeballs with her performance in the web series The Family Man, in which she plays the role of Manoj Bajpayee’s wife.
While the actress is a big name in the South film industry, she made a splash on the big screen with her dance number from the film Chennai Express titled ‘One two three four’. Talking to a tabloid, Priyamani said that she agreed to be a part of the dance number in Chennai Express as it gave her a chance to dance with Shah Rukh Khan. Post that, she got several offers from Hindi cinema but nothing substantial came her way; the actress said that there was no point doing dance numbers.

Sara Ali Khan cracks a bad ‘Knock Knock’ joke and brother Ibrahim Ali Khann is shocked
Sara Ali Khan is certainly having a fun time with her lock-down companion, i.e. mother Amrita Singh and brother Ibrahim Ali Khan. The goofy videos that she keeps sharing are proof enough. In fact, Ibrahim, who wasn’t very active on Instagram earlier, has become much more regular now, probably thanks to his uninterrupted stay at home.
Meanwhile, we are already familiar to Sara’s shayars and rhymes. Not the first time that she has come up with a ‘knock knock joke’, but some more does not hurt. She took to Instagram to share a video with Ibrahim, wherein the two crack yet another knock knock joke. Ibrahim can’t certainly make sense out of it, and is heard saying ‘shut up’ when Sara stops recording. “For now, we all live under a rock / All of us- the nerd , the jock /In the meantime Ibrahim and sister you can mock/ While we do our favourite Knock Knock,” Sara wrote, sharing the video. Watch it below.

GET THE LOOK: Sara Ali Khan’s unicorn eyes makeup this summer is hotter than the temperature
One waits year long to follow the trendy summer looks. Though everyone is currently stationed at home amid this global crisis, there’s a lot that can be done at home including fun makeup looks inspired by celebrities. Millennial star Sara Ali Khan enjoys a huge following on social media even though she is only three movies old in the industry. There are tons of inventive looks she has tried in the past and we are here to break it down for you.
During the promotions of Love Aaj Kal, Sara Ali Khan opted for a unicorn look which is definitely worth trying out. “I started working with Sara from the last two days of Kedarnath promotions. Then, she offered me Love Aaj Kal which I couldn’t do due to prior commitments. With Sara, it’s edgy, she likes fun stuff, she likes going a little off the shore and it doesn’t matter if the look fails or succeeds. Most of the times we’ve managed to succeed. The whole promotional looks of Love Aaj Kal were different from one another,” says Adrian Jacobs.
Bollywood Hungama spoke to celebrity makeup artist Adrian Jacobs who has been with Sara since Kedarnath promotions.
- Apply Giorgio Armani Luminous liquid foundation for the base.
- Conceal the under eyes with very little concealer from Kyrolan.
- For contour, we use the negro palette from Kyrolan to put it across in the shape of the V on the cheeks and between the eye and blend it really well.
- Use loose powder to make the look matte. The products should be used in a minimum amount so that the look remains fresh and its summer, one doesn’t have to worry about the foundation to be all over the place.
- Here comes the fancy part – unicorn colours on the eyes which is really done up. Use most of the colours from the Huda eye and Inglot palettes. We’ve mixed from the UD and Faces palette too. We’ve mixed shades so there’s no one concentrated colour.
- For the eye-makeup, one needs to have medium to big eyelid space. Sara’s got a nice medium to the high lid. Between the eyelids and the highlighted part, use pink colour to get the beautiful shape. That’s necessary near to the bone of the eye. This is followed by a green colour under the eyes with a tint of blue in the outer corners.
- Since eye-makeup is bold and sparkly, choose for a lighter shade on the lips. We opted for pink lipstick!
- Use an angled brush to fill in any gaps to define the eyebrows.
And voila! You have the unicorn makeup look good to go! Summer months are upon us and there’s plenty of inspiration for vibrant and refreshing looks.

Cinema halls start planning on safety measures for post lockdown cinema viewing experience
The novel coronavirus has brought life to a standstill. A lockdown was imposed in India starting March 25. Before the lockdown, several state governments had announced that theatres and gyms will be shut to stop the spread of the virus. During the post-lockdown period, the cinema viewing experience will undergo major changes.
Reportedly, over the past few days, different departments of cinema including production, distribution and exhibition chains have been holding virtual conferences to discuss the details of the post lockdown phase.
An exhibitor talking to a tabloid said that fighting the fear in the minds of the audience has been a major point of discussion. He said that cinema will take safety measures even if there is no directive. Cinemas will be practising social distancing by keeping seats vacant between groups, individuals or couples, making masks and sanitisers compulsory. They will also be sanitising common areas and will provide PPE kits for the staff.
Cinema hall owners feel that the post lockdown scenarios will be tricky. They feel it will be a slow run for the first few months.
Meanwhile, business owners have reached out to ministries for monetary help. An exhibitor said that cinemas were the first to shut shop and will probably be the last to open as well.
Meanwhile, a Delhi exhibitor said that they will need the help of the government and producers to get back on their feet. While single screens in smaller cities will have a different battle to fight for survival.

Owing to the coronavirus pandemic, 67th National Film Awards delayed indefinitely
With the coronavirus pandemic on the rise across the globe, several events have been put on hold or cancelled. Now, the National Film Awards that honours excellence in the entire national spectrum of Indian cinema on May 3 every year also stands delayed indefinitely as of now.
Reportedly, the officials have not been discussing the 67th National Film Awards as they are currently focusing on tackling the coronavirus situation. Talking to a daily, filmmaker Rahul Rawail who was a part of the National Film Awards jury last year said that the process of putting together a jury was about to start before the coronavirus scare intensified in the country. He said that the jury has not yet been formed.
The winners are decided by an independent jury consisting of eminent filmmakers and film personalities and declared in April every year, followed by the ceremony on May 3.
In 2019, the National Film Awards was delayed owing to the general elections. The winners were announced in August with the ceremony taking place in December. Meanwhile, Rahul Rawail also said that with hardly any movie releases in 2020, it is not fair to have a National Film Awards next year.

SCOOP: A major OTT player offers Rs. 143 crore for ’83? Reliances Shibhashish Sarkar clarifies
The lockdown has completed a month in India and yet, cases of Coronavirus are rapidly rising. The belief is that itll take a few more months for normalcy to kick in. This would also mean that itll take some more time for cinema halls to resume services as well. Even if theatres are allowed to be open, theres no guarantee that big films would start arriving in hordes. There are a lot of factors to be considered like fear psychosis, condition of overseas markets etc. before the decision to release biggies will be taken.
Recently, the trade circles was abuzz with reports that the much-awaited film 83, based on the spectacular victory of Indian cricket team in the 1983 World Cup, might not release in cinemas. According to the speculation, a big OTT platform with worldwide reach has offered a staggering Rs. 143 crore to the makers of this film, starring Ranveer Singh, and directed by Kabir Khan. So are the makers tempted to take up this offer?
Reliance Entertainment Group CEO Shibashish Sarkar, however outright denies these reports. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Hungama, he says, There is no truth to these reports. 83 has been made for the big-screen experience. Right now, theres no intention or interest of the directors or we as the producers of taking these films to the small screen. If the situation deteriorates rapidly or there is no visibility of normalcy even after six months, we will evaluate then. But right now, we are all quite positive and I foresee that between next 4 to 6 months, cinema halls will start operating. So thats the hope and mind-set which we currently have.
A trade source insists that producers of small and medium-sized films have also been approached by different platforms. The source says, The OTT platforms have enough content as of now but sooner or later, they too wont have anything new to offer as even their productions are paused. Also, their viewership will increase if they get an upcoming film, which was originally meant for cinemas. Hence, they are approaching makers of films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Khaali Peeli, Coolie No 1, Ginny Weds Sunny, Saina, Indoo Ki Jawaani, Shershaah etc. They are offering them a handsome amount, based on their films worth, which will not just cover the films cost but also ensure profitability.
Different producers, however, have reacted differently to this offer. The trade source adds, Some filmmakers are just not interested as they feel that they are able to afford the delay and will hold back the digital only release of their films. And more importantly, the directors and actors of these films would not be comfortable if their film is not released in cinemas. They fear that itll affect their credibility. Everyone saw what happened with Sushant Singh Rajputs Drive last year. However, there are some producers who are evaluating the offer. And then there are filmmakers who are already in advanced talks with the OTT giants and are close to sealing the deal”
The source before signing off says, As of now, filmmakers are waiting to see whether the lockdown is further extended or not or if there is any clue on reopening of cinemas. Based on that, theyll decide whether they want to take the OTT bait.

Vidya gleefully said, “I always saw cooking as a symbol of domestication, but in the lockdown, it was a new discovery.”
Vidya was of the opinion that cooking is a very domesticated role and she would never fit perfectly in it but this lockdown enabled her to find out a new trait in her and is she is enjoying it with her whole heart.
We hope to see Vidya posting more of cooking videos!

Kim Kardashian accused of cultural appropriation for wearing traditional Indian accessories
Keeping Up With The Kardashians star Kim Kardashian is facing backlash on the internet. The reality star wore a grey crop top and a skirt along with what looks like traditional Indian jewellery – maang tika and gold bangles.
This ain’t the first time she wore traditional Indian jewellery. She had earlier faced internet backlash after she wore accessories to the church.

now that you’ve stolen from south asian culture to fit your aesthetics, why don’t you donate to these countries if you appreciate their culture so much, Kim? ????????????

if anyone is defending this bc she’s half armenian- (her dad was a third gen wealthy armenian) armenians don’t wear bindhis/bindhanis. not all brown people are allowed to wear the same things. we’re not all the same. bindhis are sacred to hinduism/south asian cultures.

Arjun Kapoor digs out a priceless throwback picture on his ‘natkhat balak’ Varun Dhawan’s birthday
Varun Dhawan turns 33, amid a lock-down. Needless to say, there won’t be a party. The actor rang in his special day with a homemade chocolate cake, in the company of his family members. And while he is away from his go-to buddies, they’re making sure to convey the best of wishes virtually.
For example, Arjun Kapoor. Arjun is anyway in a mood to dig up the past, and has been posting some major throwbacks. He took to Instagram to wish Varun, his ‘bad boy for life,’ a very happy birthday. The picture was taken way before Arjun became the hunk that he is today. In fact, it can qualify as a before-and-after photo as well! “Bad (haircuts in this case) Boys 4 Life. Happy birthday @varundvn the content maker par excellence, the new rapper in town & the natkhat balak forever !!! #vdin4d #hairytales #swamitypeka #brotherfromanothermother #facecreamernumber1,” he wrote. Those hashtags, though! Do not miss the tinges of pink cream (from the cake, of course) on Varun’s face.

“I didn’t watch Ramayan to find faults; I loved every shot every moment”, says Arun Govil
Arunji how do you look at being regaining fame as Rama?
I never expected it. Nobody did. Lekin halaat kuch aise ban gaye…The entire family in every Indian household was at home and they all watched the Ramayan together for the first time. In fact I saw it for the first time because of the lockdown.
You mean you had never seen it before?
Not in its entirety. Bits and pieces…yes. But not in this way, sitting at home watching all the episodes from first to last.
And what did you think of it?
Achi cheez toh achi hi lagegi na. I cannot describe my feelings. Sitting and watching my serial that has brought so much happiness to people across world for 30 years…. What more can an actor want? I am not a critic. I didn’t watch Ramayan to find faults. I loved every shot every moment. One cannot find fault with something that has brought so much joy to millions of people. This time young people saw the whole serial and even youngsters enjoyed it just as much as the older generations.
A part of such a successful run of the Ramayan this time has to do with the collective audience that it received?
Collective audience is fine. But the appreciation we got even after 33 years when it was first telecast…. I think it has more to do with the relevance of Ramayan. Its teachings are more relevant today than ever before.
I remember when Ramayan was first telecast people on the roads touched your feet as though you were the real Rama?
And I am getting the same kind of response this time also. The appreciation is overwhelming; I am getting the same appreciation, as though they had seen Bhagwan Rama in me all over again. It is truly gratifying. I am grateful for the love that I’ve received from my people.
It is amazing that humanity has reached the moon and it still believes in the gods as strongly as ever.
Yeh sanskriti ki baat hai (this is about our culture). It has nothing to do with reaching the moon. That’s to do with science. Why mix out culture with scientific progress? The love and respect that we feel for our parents hasn’t changed just because we’ve touched the moon. Our problem is we’ve begun to mix vigyan and sanskriti.
Would you say the image of Lord Rama came in the way of your acting career?
It always happens. In Indian there is always typecasting. If an actor plays a policeman in one film he continues to play it in 50 films. It’s inevitable. Nowadays this image-casting is changing in our cinema. But I played Lord Rama. I’ve absolutely no regrets about losing out on other roles because of my image. 33 years after it was first telecast people are giving me their love and respect. You are interviewing me about a role I played so many years ago. What else could I ask for? Zindagi mein aadmi kya khota hai and kya pata hai ussey gaur se dekhni chahiye. If I lost a few roles look at what I gained. Mujhe lagta hai maine khoya bahot kam aur paya bahot zyada hai.
Going back, after you bagged the role of Rama did your lifestyle change drastically?
Not really. Even before I played Rama I was never an extroverted partygoer. I grew up in an environment where the Ramayan was read regularly. My Mummy and Daddy read the Ramayan and we did puja every morning and evening. So no, I didn’t have to stretch myself to play Rama. The maryada (reverence) came naturally to me. I am not an excessively religious person. But I do believe in God and in Rama.
Your co-star Dipika feels the Ramayan cast should be given royalty for this telecast?
Jee bilkul milni chahiye. Why not?
Would you like to return to acting?
Phir woh image wali baat aa jayegi. If I get any roles that inspire me I’d love to. Otherwise I have got enough.
